Clan Ranks Felikhans live in small to medium sized groups called clans. Around the city of Anias there are four, one for each of the compass directions. These clans are made of multiple family groups, though they function as a whole and are tightly knit among one another. They support each other and hunt for the old, sick, weak, young, and each other. The hierarchy is a simple and fair one, though strict enough to provide order. KHAN: The Khan can be male or female. They are the leaders of Felikhan society and the head of their clans. They make vital decision for the clans and help keep peace between other clans. When a CoKhan becomes a Khan they are given nine lives by their ancestors, and they take on the name Soul in replacement of the end of their surname. (Example: Silverstripe to Silversoul.) COKHAN: Second in command and in line to become Khan should their leader die or step down. They support their Khan’s decisions and help to organize hunting and border patrols. They sleep with the other Hunters. HEALER: The only cat that has more authority than the Khan. They are the ones with in-depth knowledge of herbs and poultices, and they heal the clan when sick or injured. They also have a deep connection with their ancestors and travel to the Celestius caverns to speak with them every other Moon. TENDERPAW HEALER: A young cat that is in training to becoming a Healer. They have to be at least Six Months old before they can start their training, and unlike normal Tenderpaws they don’t often wait until Eight Moons to begin their training. HUNTERS: The Hunters are toms or she-cats who are not too old or too young to defend and provide for the clan. They hunt for food and defend the clan’s borders from other clans and hostile animals. They also train their young to become Hunters. TENDERPAWS: Young cats that are in training to become Hunters. They have to be at least six Moons old before they can start their training, though some wait until Eight Moons. Their main chore is to take care of the Elders when they aren’t being trained by their mentors. DEN-MOTHERS: Females who are either pregnant, nursing, or simply wish to help take care of kittens. They are not required to hunt or fight for the clan, but those who do not have kits may do both their Hunter and Den-Mother jobs. KITS: Cats who are not yet in training. They are either too young or not ready to partake in training. They stay in the Den with the Den-Mothers most of the time. They are not allowed out of camp unless they have a Hunter as an escort or their mother. ELDERS: Cats who have served their clan and are now too old to be of any significant help. They are well respected and always the first to be fed. Tenderpaws are usually the ones that take care of the Elders, though sometimes a Hunter may have a certain fondness for one of the Elders and may help with the Tenderpaw duties. Some Felikhans are not loyal to any Clan and instead spend their lives wandering the out skirts of Anias. Some are hostile (rouges) and some are friendly (loners). Some may even travel with a group of friends, but they are never as organized or large as the clans. The Scholars within the city of Anias are likely to not have loyalties within any specific Clan, though they may have been born to one specific one. Knowledge is to be shared by all and given freely, as is the safety and shelter that the city provides. During times of war the Scholars will not take part, and this sometimes disgruntles the Clans. Clan Info War The separate Clans are usually peaceful with each other. However, the occasional border fight is common. Full out war is uncommon, though it has happened before. The city of Anias is a safe haven for those who do not wish to fight, and mothers with kits will often flee to the city, elders may also make the trek in times of war or hardship. The Khans are who decide when to fight and when to offer peace. In battles they are invaluable as they are usually highly skilled fighters and have nine lives at their disposal. A Good Khan fights with their family and protects them in battle. All the clans have agreed that in a fair fight Kits, Elders, and Healers are not to be harmed, but not everyone fights fairly. Religion The Felikhan around the city of Anias all believe in a collection of their ancestors. These ancestors, called Soulclan, are believed to live in the swath of stars in the sky, and in the land around them. Healers speak to these ancestors at Celestius every other Moon, and leaders receive their nine lives from them. Prophecies can also be received from these ancestors, be they good or bad. However, Soulclan cannot change the living world; they can only warn it and speak to it. Values The values of the Felikhan vary from clan to clan, though they all take pride in a strong family unit. Weak bonds within a Clan make the Clan weak as a whole. Therefore everyone who is born into a Clan is accepted, even if they are deaf or blind. Clans Rainclan: The cats of Rainclan are a secretive bunch, preferring to stay in their overgrown forest than venture out into another Clan’s territory. The other Clans rarely have problems with Rainclan invading, as their forests are abundant with large birds and other prey. The Rivers are also filled with fish, though they are smaller than those in the Iteya River. They are very loyal to the Clan Codes, though some may find their secretive nature disturbing. Mistclan: Mistclan cats are most like Rainclan environment-wise, but they are far more open and chatty about the going-ons in their life with other Clans. The other clans sometimes joke about them and Rainclan being “twins”, and that Mistclan simply have more room to breathe with their sparser forest. While hunting these cats seem to almost disappear completely in their invironment. They hunt fish, small birds, and other small mammals. Breezeclan: Breezeclan is perhaps one of the clans that cause the most amount of trouble. They’re always trying to steal a choice piece of territory from the other clans. They have the largest territory of any of the Clans and the other Clans may see them as greedy for wanting even more territory. However, the only things the cats in Breezeclan have to eat are rabbits and fish from the small swamp their territory borders in the south-east. Every so often they’re able to take down a young Herd Animal, but more often than not they’re scrawny and hardly fed. They’re neither “evil” or “good”, but instead look out for themselves more than for others. Nightclan: “Feli-Fish” is sometimes the nick-name for the cats of the Nightclan. Their territory is covered with swamp and marsh-land except for a small patch of forests in the north and grassland to the south-east so they are the only Felikhans that will willingly submerge themselves underwater. They are experts at fishing and can dive underwater for up to two minutes at a time, allowing them to catch larger fish than any of the other clans in their tiny patches of territory. They hunt mostly at night, in order to avoid the occasional Alligator in their territory.
